Lingo Language Lab: Meet Sharla Staab, Instructor
About Me
I have been an educator for 19 years, working as both a teacher and administrator in the public school setting. Due to spine injuries, I was forced to retire from my full-time teaching position in 2022. This career transition was fortuitous as I discovered TESOL.
As a lifelong learner, I enjoy working with my students to teach them to reflect on their own learning and to develop metacagnition. I have had the fortune to become a highly-trained and highly skilled teacher. I look forward to helping all students achieve success.I believe that by setting goals for myself as an educator, I model how to strategically work towards a desired outcome for my students.
My goals are to gain employment as a teacher of English learners, to further my professional development through continuing education, to develop a professional network of colleagues in the field, and to complete a digital portfolio to document my experience and education.

Lingo Language Lab: Teaching Philosophy
When I consider the role of the teacher in education, my philosophy has developed over the past two decades but hasn't changed much overall. My experience has taught me that my students are the priority, teaching is a service, teaching is a skilled profession, and teachers must also take care of themselves.
